Aeronautical ace purchases land at Casa Grande airport

A Pinal County pilot will purchase two acres at the Casa Grande airport and plans to set up shop.

Following a 7-0 vote during Monday’s City Council meeting, pilot Kirby Chambliss will have 45 days to close on the land.

For its part, the city agreed to extend the taxiway from its terminus to the lots Chambliss will purchase. Deputy City Manager Steven Weaver said the cost to extend the runway will be about $750,000. Chambliss will pay $120,000 for the two lots and the city has $180,000 reserved from a prior sale at the airport, Weaver said.
