Three affordable housing complexes will receive upgrades and renovations worth almost $4 million in the new year, following Florence Town Council’s pledge to support the project with $80,000 worth of incentives and the developer’s successful application for state tax credits.

The town approved a development agreement with Florence Apartments Associates LLC and affirmed the town’s incentives at the Dec. 7 regular meeting.

The council agreed earlier this year to waive up to $80,000 worth of building permits, impact fees and other fees to help the developer’s application for tax credits. The town will waive $54,000 in water and wastewater impact fees, $16,000 in building permit fees and $10,000 in plan review fees.

The project will combine three separate apartment complexes into one single LLC: Florence Heights Apartments and Western Sunrise Villas (next to each other off Florence Heights Drive) and Widdowfield Manor off Butte Avenue. They will all be renamed Florence Sunrise Apartments.
