Babeu, Voyles, Fujimoto accuse Volkmer of defamation on RICO audit

Some former county officials have accused Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer of defamation and are requesting a public apology and retraction of some statements, according to a notice to Volkmer from a Scottsdale attorney.

Volkmer’s predecessor, Lando Voyles, former Sheriff Paul Babeu and Voyles’ former Chief of Staff Dwight Fujimoto spurred the notice in regard to Volkmer’s apparent “defamatory statements … made with malice” regarding their management of RICO-seized funds while in office.
