money-boardBoard declines to adopt budget

Members want explanation on where funds go

CASA GRANDE — A lack of information kept the Casa Grande Union High School District Governing Board from approving a proposed version of the next school year’s budget on Monday.

Board members Ed Barbour, Nancy Hawkins and Wes Mitchell all expressed concerns over how money was being spent in the district and requested financial breakdowns of where specific funds were going. The three voted against approving a proposed version of the fiscal year 2016-17 budget, delaying the matter till later this week.

The clock is ticking for the board to approve the budget. State law requires school districts to adopt a final budget before July 15 and a proposed version has to be approved and published at least 10 days before the board gives a final vote.
