CAC FoundationPINAL COUNTY, Ariz. The Central Arizona College (CAC) Foundation has received $6,500 from TransCanada Corporation in support of the Promise for the Future program. The Promise program is designed to encourage students living in Pinal County to stay in high school and graduate.

“We are grateful to TransCanada for their dedicated investment in our students through our Promise for the Future program,” stated Maggie Dooley, Director of the CAC Foundation. “TransCanada’s partnership with the Central Arizona College Foundation has provided an unimagined college opportunity for students and their ability to access a quality educational experience.”

Promise for the Future awards qualifying high school graduates a tuition waiver for four consecutive semesters at any Central Arizona College campus. During a student’s eighth grade year, they and their parents sign a “Promise” contract. To receive the scholarship, students must achieve a 2.75 or better grade point average, participate in community service projects and complete the “Promise” scholarship acceptance form upon their high school graduation. Students must begin the semester following their high school graduation and enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.

Promise for the Future recipient Haymee Lucio states, “I am beyond grateful that there are foundations out there that are investing in student’s education, facilitating their college experience, and giving many of them the opportunity to actually attend college. I hope that many students have and will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and realize that there are people out there who are willing to help them succeed.”
