Casa Grande airport plan update paid for mostly by feds

The Federal Aviation Administration will pitch in nearly $100,000 for an update of the 30-year-old layout plan for Casa Grande Municipal Airport.

The city will pay about 10 percent of the cost — $10,000.

With an updated layout plan, the airport will be eligible to receive up to $150,000 of FAA entitlement funds each year to pay for updates and improvements, Airport Manager Richard Wilkie told the City Council Monday.

“They’re really pretty much guaranteed for projects at the airport,” Wilkie said.

To be eligible for the funding, however, an updated airport layout plan is required, he said.
