Casa Grande’s sales tax revenue holds fairly consistent

Casa Grande city officials say it’s a good sign that local sales tax revenues for the city grew slightly in fiscal year 2014 but caution that levels are below amounts collected in years past.

Sales tax revenue is one of the largest chunks of money the city receives each year. Of the 12 business categories of the local sales tax, retail is the top, consistently adding more than $9 million to city coffers each year. In fiscal year 2014, ending last June 30, retail sales tax revenue was $9.6 million — up about $69,641 from the previous year.
