Central Arizona College considers Signal Peak Campus renovations

The Central Arizona College Governing Board is looking into the possibility of a major overhaul of buildings at the college’s Signal Peak Campus through the use of revenue bonds, which are repaid from student tuition and fees.

During a work session Tuesday prior to the board’s regular meeting at the Maricopa Campus, Nick Dodd of RBC Capital Markets presented the board with a scenario of $20 million needed for improvements to the campus’ aging infrastructure and buildings, some of which are about 45 years old. However, Chris Wodka, vice president of financial and administrative services for the college, said Dodd is still working on the numbers to determine the maximum limit for the college and is expected to present that information at the board’s October meeting.
