Coolidge could add fees for solid waste services

Now that Coolidge has transitioned its trash pickup to a private-public partnership, the city has begun re-examining some of its other solid waste policies.

During a study session on Monday, Public Works Director Matt Rencher presented a proposed fee structure to be applied to several services offered by his department that goes beyond the curbside pickup that is now handled by Right Away Disposal. Because it is a study session, no fees were approved, but a notice is to be posted that the fees could be implemented at a later time.

The city still won’t charge for the first time someone brings bulk trash on a single-axle trailer, or the first time they bring green waste. But each time after that would bring a fee. The city will also pick up bulk trash beyond the one provided by RAD, but with a fee. These fees outlined by Rencher during the presentation outline the maximum they would charge. The council could then lower those fees before putting them into effect.
