Coolidge candidates debate taxes, trash, annexation

The voters of Coolidge got what is likely their final chance to see all four city council candidates together to try to better inform the decision they will have to make with their ballots for the Nov. 4 election.
Tami Hodge, Rob Hudelson, Gary Lewis and Nitza Verdugo are vying for two open city council seats after Tatiana Murrieta won the first seat during the Aug. 26 primary. The forum, hosted by the Coolidge Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Coolidge Examiner, took place on Oct. 8 at the city council chambers.
Hodge is a former educator and current businesswoman, Lewis is a first responder with the local ambulance, Hudelson is a preacher at Legacy Baptist Church in Coolidge, and Verdugo is a store manager with the Queen Creek Olive Mill.
Many issues were discussed, with particular interest being paid to controversial topics like taxes and solid waste.
