Coolidge Chamber of Commerce endorses home rule option

CoolidgeWith ballots being mailed out to Coolidge voters on July 31, residents will have to begin deciding whether to continue the city’s home rule option for another four years.

Proposition 404, which will be on the ballot during the Aug. 26 primary election, will decide whether or not to extend the alternate expenditure limitation for the city, which allows the city council to set its own ceiling for spending, beyond what the state tells the city it can spend based on a formula that they use. Known as the home rule option, this has been in effect since voters first approved the idea in 1982, with it easily passing every four years when it goes onto the ballot. It was last approved in 2010.
