sexual_assult_month_fiJoining a growing wave of communities pledging to put potential victims first, Mayor Tom Shope declared Coolidge a “Start By Believing” city during the city council meeting on March 24.

Coolidge Police Chief Joe Brugman recommended the proclamation in honor of April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the United States. It is a pledge by cities, counties and other government agencies to never discount the stories of victims of sex crimes without first conducting a thorough investigation.
