Crews keep busy maintaining Casa Grande’s 300 miles of streets

Potholes are where the road meets the rubber. And where people of all political stripes agree — it’s government’s job to fill them.

In Casa Grande, the job falls to Bobby Costales and crew. They work for the city’s Streets Division.

Sometimes the driving public points out potholes. And sometimes Costales and crew find them on their own.

“We’ll drive around and we’ll inspect,” Costales said. “We’ll tell Chris, we found a pothole here or a pothole there.”

Chris Lawson is the streets supervisor, Costales’ boss. Lawson oversees a number of crews. Street-light technicians. Shoulder grader. Roadside weed mower. Street cleaner.
