Dwelling in the land east of Eloy
Youth Haven Ranch has long served children
by Joey Chenoweth | The Eloy Enterprise
Out in the desert east of Eloy, between a cemetery and a cotton farm, lies a secret. Few locals — to the extent there are locals — even know it’s there. It was once in Picacho, until the post office moved away and forced an address change, and out of sight for those who drive along State Route 87 to and from Interstate 10.
Those who do know about this secret don’t think of it as just another patch of dusty land, but as a place where they could feel like they belonged to something nice, even if just for a weekend. To them, it might just be a source of hope.
The secret is called Youth Haven Ranch, and for 34 years it has been serving youth who haven’t had the best cut in life, offering a respite from struggles that they are going through.
