Broussard has no opposition after surprise ’12 win

In 2012, a San Tan Valley woman ran for Pinal County school superintendent against a high school science teacher and incumbent Democrat Orlenda Roberts, who had been appointed in 2007 and elected in 2008.

“I don’t think anyone was as surprised as I was when I won the election,” Superintendent Jill Broussard admitted. “(But) I had some encouragement from those around me (and) everything kind of fell into place.”

Broussard this year had no challengers in the primary or general election.
