Eloy at odds with Coolidge over 2 land issues

When it comes to issues relating to property, the relationship between Coolidge and Eloy continues to grow more contentious, with the latter filing a pair of complaints over the former’s plans for the southern portion of its city limits.

David Yankus of The Eloy Enterprise reported that the Eloy City Council unanimously voted to authorize the city attorney to file a complaint for special action in Pinal County Superior Court against Coolidge’s adoption of a new ordinance approving the “Frontage 87” annexation. That annexation, which passed the Coolidge City Council unanimously on Aug. 24, brought in 245 acres of land along Highway 87 near the correctional facilities in Eloy.

Originally listed at 454 acres, properties were taken off of the annexation during the petition process when the property owners made it clear to the City of Coolidge that they did not want to be inside the city limits. Eloy is now saying that Coolidge might not  have followed Arizona Revised Statute 9-471.
