Farming co-op supports small acreage growers

“Seed-to-sale” is the concept various farming organizations in the state are trying to encourage small-acreage farmers to follow, and a portion of that process is located right in Maricopa.

Some of those organizations include the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Program, the USDA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and a local produce company, Sun Produce. They have come together as one working entity to provide support to small, amateur growers.

These small acreage growers can include people who want to grow part time or as a hobby, or people who live in urban areas and don’t have much space to cultivate crops.
