Florence spends $400K on streets and roads

The town has spent $400,000 to maintain and improve its transportation network in this fiscal year, Town Manager Brent Billingsley reported to the Town Council Tuesday.

This includes paving Florence Heights Drive, the Diversion Dam traffic light and major improvements to the curve at Hunt Highway and Franklin Road since July 1, Billingsley said.

This detail was part of Billingsley’s report on the first six months of the council’s five-year strategic plan. Also under “Transportation and Infrastructure,” Billingsley said the Maricopa Association of Governments, of which Florence is a member, now supports Florence as becoming an end-of-the-line station in the passenger rail corridor study.
