Governor Ducey Visits Pinal County; discusses budget, education and Florence Copper Project

Governor Doug Ducey wrapped up his Opportunity Express tour‬ in front of about a hundred people at Sun City Anthem in Florence, AZ.  He was accompanied by Senate President Andy Biggs, House Majority Whip David Livingston, Rep Frank Pratt & Rep TJ Shope.

Speaking to a predominately snowbird audience, the Governor gave a brief overview of his first 100 days in office and then answered a handful of questions submitted by the audience members.  The questions asked focused on the budget, education and Florence Copper.  “We fix our budget issues by not spending more money than we have,” said Governor Ducey.  While Universities ended up with a 2% cut, Governor Ducey claimed that more money will be in the K-12 classrooms next year than there is today. “$134 million more” said Governor Ducey.  “There are 230 school districts in Arizona spending $10 billion per year on education,” said Majority Whip Livingston. “That’s nearly $10,000 per child.  We need to make some changes.”
