Power company makes 3-year grant to help Randolph garden

RANDOLPH – Future Forward Foundation, or “3F,” board members and volunteers, Randolph residents and others gathered at the Randolph community garden on the morning of June 29 to celebrate a three-year grant from TransCanada Corporation to develop and expand the garden.

TransCanada operates Coolidge Generating Station, a natural gas-fired peak-power plant east of Randolph. The company sponsors youth programs in Coolidge and offers a local college scholarship, but the garden is especially nice to be part of, Brad Howard, Trans-Canada’s manager of power development in the Southwest, told the 40 or so people gathered at the garden.

“I’m a gardener. This resonates with me. I love growing things and I love pulling things out of the soil,” Howard said. The company has committed to an annual donation of $7,500 for three years.
