‘We just want our house back’ Residents speak out on CG historic district

The future of the city’s Evergreen Historic District stirred many opinions Monday night during a public hearing before the Casa Grande City Council.
More than a dozen people took turns addressing the council, some vocalizing their support of keeping the district and others asking for some changes.
The general concern from some residents was that the district’s rules interfere with a homeowner’s right to make exterior changes to the property. The city’s current rules require homeowners to apply for a Certificate of No Effect if they want to repaint their house or replace their windows.
