A Maricopa city council candidate and former police chief has been named a finalist in the search for a new top cop at the Seattle Police Department.
Patrick Melvin, the current chief of police for the Salt River Police Department, is running for a two-year term on the Maricopa city council.
Seattle media outlets first reported Melvin’s name last week, along with three other candidates, including Mesa Police Chief Frank Milstead. The mayor’s office in Seattle confirmed the media reports on Friday.
