Leach, Finchem beat Grant to advance to House general election

Vince Leach won the Republican primary for the two seats in the state House of Representatives Tuesday night with 12,268 votes or 42 percent of the total votes cast.

Mark Finchem finished second with 10,653 votes or 36 percent of the total votes.

Holly Lyon ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and received 96 percent of the vote.

Leach, Finchem and Lyon will compete for two open seats in the state house of representatives in the general election on Nov. 4.

Smith wins primary for 2-year seat, will face Vitiello in general

Nancy Smith led voting with 1,179 votes, or 46 of the total votes cast in Tuesday’s primary for a two-year seat on the City Council .

Rich Vitiello finished second with 918 votes, or 36 percent of the vote,.

Smith and Vitiello will advance to the general election and compete for the seat on Nov. 4.

Smith beats Bartle in Republican primary for LD11 senate seat

Steve Smith won the Republican primary race Tuesday night for the Legislative District 11 state Senate seat with 12,484 votes or 69 percent of the total votes cast.

Scott Bartle finished with 5,489 votes or 30 percent of the total vote.

Jo Holt ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and finished with 98 percent of the vote.

Smith and Holt will face off for the state senate seat in the general election on Nov. 4.

Chapados wins primary for city council four-year seats

Peg Chapados led all candidates with 1,357 votes, or 19 percent of the total votes cast in Tuesday’s primary.

Here is how the voting shaped up after that: Henry Wade, 1,095 votes or 16 percent;

Vincent Manfredi, 1,064 votes or 15 percent; Marty Hermanson, 984 votes or 14 percent; Rachel Leffall, 930 votes or 13 percent; Patrick Melvin, 930 votes or 13 percent; Nicholas Sheppard, 593 or 8 percent.

All but Sheppard will advance to the general election on Nov. 4 and compete for three four-year seats on city council.
