Maricopa woman appeals decision on APEX lawsuit

A Maricopa woman is appealing a Pinal County judge’s ruling that she doesn’t have standing to challenge the construction of a motor sports park.
After Judge Robert Carter Olson ruled against her last month, Bonita Burks filed a notice in Superior Court on Oct. 12 signifying her intention to seek relief through the Arizona Court of Appeals.
The plaintiff filed a complaint in July, objecting to how the Maricopa City Council granted a permit for Private Motorsports Group to build a 280-acre facility, known as APEX. The complex is designed for auto enthusiasts, with a racetrack and car garages.
