New business park, Amtrack station and county yard planned for Maricopa

It’s early in the process, but mark your calendars for major economic activity in Maricopa. The city is spearheading two projects and partnered with the Boyer Company on a third.

When the dust settles, Maricopa will have a 400KSF business park, city maintenance yard and Amtrak passenger station on the 52-acre Estrella Gin site, Garvey Road west of State Route 347.

Passenger train stations are not normally seen in the “new project” category. Maricopa is in early siting and civil engineering stages of relocating the passenger platform and shelter to the Estrella Gin property and a newly designed “traditional” train station. Railpros Inc. is handing the site and civil design on that project.
