New map shows houses out of flood plain

A federal mapping error that showed perhaps 100 houses in Anthem at Merrill Ranch to be in a flood plain has apparently been corrected.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has issued a new “Letter of map revision,” or LOMR, and “we think this solves all the previous mapping errors,” according to Randy Christman, manager of planning and entitlements for Pulte Homes. There is a network of washes in Anthem to make sure neighborhoods aren’t vulnerable to flooding, he said.
Town Manager Brent Billingsley told the Town Council at its Jan. 3 meeting that he had received a letter that day from FEMA concerning a new LOMR of the flood plain in the Anthem area.
