New rodeo grounds at Goose OK’d

Local rodeo lovers got some good news.

A different kind of entertainment is set to bring some enthusiasm to southern Coolidge after getting the go-ahead from the planning and zoning commission. They unanimously approved a request by the Gallopin’ Goose to allow the bar to hold rodeo events in the space behind the Goose structure, just south of Shope’s IGA.

The conditional use permit allows the space to be used for grandstands, an arena, animal pens and trailer parking. According to Goose owner Scott Wohrman, the plan is to begin holding these events in September, with multiple events taking place each week during the busy winter months, and then adjusting to the demand during the summer.
