New transportation authority creates options

FLORENCE — Last August, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution to create a transportation authority. Now the county is looking at what kind of projects it can complete and how much money it will have at its disposal.

The county hired Dibble Engineering, a Phoenix consulting firm, last September to create plans and goals for the newly approved Regional Transportation Authority.

Tim Wolfe of Dibble Engineering gave a presentation to the Board of Supervisors on Wednesday to address direction and next steps for the RTA.

Much of the funding for transportation projects will come from a half-cent sales tax, if approved by the voters of Pinal County. Dibble Engineering had economic consulting firm Elliott Pollack & Company do some revenue projections based on the half-cent sales tax.
