Pinal County Board of Supervisors weighs size of impact fees

Just how much is too much when it comes to development impact fees?
The Pinal County Board of Supervisors recognizes the need for fees to finance roads and infrastructure, but some board members say high fees drive away developers.
Supervisors last week heard about a new fee schedule from Dwayne Guthrie, a planning consultant at TischlerBise, a consulting firm. Guthrie said the proposed fees were based on projected growth in the county in the next 10 years.
Supervisor Steve Miller didn’t like some of the proposed increases. In some areas, fees were proposed to more than double, especially in what’s designated as the north-central area of the county, which is expected to see the most rapid growth.
