Pinal Clerk’s Office: Thousands in financial waste uncovered

Pinal County In office for less than two months, the Pinal County administration of new Clerk of the Superior Court Amanda Stanford says it has uncovered a number of areas of financial waste.

Most prevalent, said Chief Deputy Lynn Hurley, is the more than $35,000 spent to install new modular-style offices during the tail-end of former clerk Chad Roche’s tenure. After bidding out the project and having the modulars installed, Hurley said, Roche ran into an issue — the structures didn’t meet fire and building code requirements.

So they sit, unused, holding holiday decorations, vacuum cleaners and extra desk chairs.
