Pinal County Supervisors to consider economic development plan

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors will consider a program to encourage businesses to come to the county at a meeting Wednesday.

The resolution would adopt the Pinal County Business Assistance Policy, which would allow for county monies to be given to businesses to start in or relocate to Pinal County. The policy says: “The requirements of this policy are designed to ensure that county expenditures under the Business Assistance Program advance a public purpose and provide a reasonable return on investment for the county and the public.”

The policy says state law allows the Board of Supervisors to spend money for economic development activities “to include acquisition, improvement, leasing or conveyance of real or personal property or other activity that is determined to assist the creation or retention of jobs or otherwise improve or enhance the economic welfare of the inhabitants of the county.”
