Pinal County Veterans Memorial progressing

The Pinal County Veterans Memorial is closer to becoming a reality.

Tom Bagnall, president of the Pinal County Veterans Memorial Foundation, said the long-sought project is finally coming to fruition — at least on paper. The foundation signed a lease last week with the city of Casa Grande to build a permanent memorial on a 1.7-acre parcel adjacent to Ed Hooper Rodeo Park.

The memorial and surrounding park area will be a monument to service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice, Bagnall said. Plans for the site have changed somewhat over the past 18 months. The memorial now is planned to be a circular monument with inscriptions of each fallen service member’s name and the war. Each of the five branches of the military will have one wall on the monument.
