Pinal County’s preliminary budget talks turn sour

FLORENCE — Referring to the projections as “speculative,” Pinal County Manager Greg Stanley nonetheless painted a less-than-rosy picture of the county’s finances at last week’s work session for the Board of Supervisors.

He said supervisors need to approach the budget carefully because of dwindling financial reserves.

“As our strategic reserve has continued to shrink, we’ve just got to be more conservative in how we approach this budgeting process,” he said. The county ended its last fiscal year, June 30, 2014, “quite a bit worse than what we projected.”
