Pinal official says more major development projects to be announced

pinal countyWhen the housing market crashed in 2008 and sent the country into its worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, it was a loud wake up call for everyone.

It’s a wake up call that reached Pinal County where during the 2000s, housing was king and like most places, when the king fell so did the county.

But as the housing market slowly recovers, the decade of the 2010s won’t be known as the decade of housing in Pinal County. Instead it will probably be looked at as the decade of manufacturing with 2016 being the turning point.

Last year the county’s economic development program announced a total of $3.5 billion of projected capital investment that equated to 8,000 new jobs, with the biggest coming from the announcements of the Attesa Motorsports Complex and Lucid Motors. These two projects combined for a total of $2 billion in projected capital investment and around 3,200 new jobs.
