Pinal Partnership, Reclamation begin groundwater study

Federal, state, local and private interests are teaming up to conduct a study to assess the current and future supply of water in Pinal County.

With a grant from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the Eloy and Maricopa-Stanfield Water Basin Study will take a comprehensive look at the supply and demand of current and future uses for groundwater in Pinal County, said Ron Fleming, CEO of Global Water, a private water provider and one of the partner agencies. Fleming also serves as the co-chair of the Water Resource Committee at Pinal Partnership, the organizing agency and a cooperative effort between government and investors.

“The study will look at what the groundwater supply will be in 50 years,” Fleming told PinalCentral.
