Power surge: Area solar panel installations booming

The number of solar panel installations in Casa Grande jumped significantly in 2015, according to Arizona Public Service Co.
The electricity provider tracked 276 installations last year, up from the 151 installations reported in 2014. Last year had the highest rate of installations since APS began tracking the numbers in 2003.
Last summer saw a “huge spike” in solar installations in all 11 counties that APS services, according to spokeswoman Jenna Shaver. Over 50 percent of Casa Grande’s installations were done between May and September.
