The Pinal County Historic Courthouse was filled with people who had something to say about adding a fire district to their area, reports the Casa Grande Dispatch.

At Wednesday’s board meeting, a proposed Pinal Rural Fire and Medical District, which would be in eastern Pinal, was discussed. The northwest boundary would be the San Carlos Apache Reservation and the Dudleyville Fire District; the eastern boundary on the county’s eastern border; the southern boundary along the San Manuel Fire District; and the western boundary would include the Oracle and Mammoth fire districts.

The board voted 3-2 to approve the impact statement for the fire district, which means the issue is now in the hands of property owners in the area. Supporters have one year to collect the required number of signatures to make the district official.
