San Tan Valley officials react to new right to vote on city

Area residents who have backed an incorporation vote for San Tan Valley in the past are excited about legislation that will allow them to proceed, but no one has announced plans to do so at this time.

Gov. Doug Ducey officially signed House Bill 2088 on Tuesday, allowing San Tan Valley to vote on incorporation.

The legislation passed last week takes away the ability of surrounding communities, such as Florence and Apache Junction, to hinder an incorporation vote for the approximately 100,000 residents in San Tan Valley.

The law will go into effect 90 days after the legislative session ends.
