Schools in Pinal improve slightly

Pinal County schools overall performed slightly better in the second year of Arizona’s new assessment tests, though they scored below statewide averages.
The Arizona Department of Education released final results of AzMERIT scores from the 2015-16 school year on Thursday. The percentage of all students in Pinal County that passed math and language arts exams increased by 2 and 1 percent, respectively, from the previous school year.
The statewide average of all students passing math and language arts was 38 percent. The county fell behind this passing rate by nearly 10 percentage points in each subject.
