Town, county make deal with business park

A development agreement to build a new “Innovation Pavilion” campus north of the Florence Library and Community Center was approved Monday by the Town Council.

The agreement — between the town, Startup Pavilion Inc. (doing business as Innovation Pavilion) and Pinal County — anticipates construction in the near future on approximately 12 acres in the town’s Heritage Square District. Town Manager Brent Billingsley called it “a wonderful opportunity” for the town to diversify its economy. The town is committed to pay Innovation Pavilion $66,000 within two business days of the effective date of the agreement.

The town will sell the land to IP at fair market value, or convey it using an economic development tool. Part of the IP feasibility study will determine how best to transfer the land, Florence Management Analyst Jennifer Evans said.
