A temporary stoplight, operating for the last several months at Hunt Highway and Attaway Road, is set to be replaced by a permanent light by the end of the calendar year, following action by the Town Council on Oct. 17.

Town Manager Brent Billingsley congratulated Florence Public Works Director Chris Salas for arranging procurement, design and construction “in an incredibly tight timeframe” while holding down costs, working within the intersection’s right-of-way challenges and leaving room for future intersection improvements, such as a northbound right-hand-turn lane.

Billingsley said the signal will look different than the typical signal, “but will function quite well for the three legs of the intersection.”
