Water treatment plant named for Superstition area

Superstition Area Water Plant.

That’s the name a majority of water customers chose for the $9 million Central Arizona Project water treatment plant constructed in Apache Junction.

The project on Ironwood Drive just south of Baseline Road is being funded through the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona.

The Apache Junction Water Utilities Community Facilities District board voted 7-0 on Oct. 18 to approve the name. Voting on the three were district board members John Insalaco, Robin Barker, Christa Rizzi, Chip Wilson, Dave Waldron, Gail Evans and Jeff Serdy.
