Apache Junction utility starts blending Central Arizona Project water

The Apache Junction Water District last week reached a milestone in the development of its first surface-water purification plant. The initial introduction of water purified at the plant has been blended into the water district system, according to a press release.

“All of the district’s water comes from wells or the Central Arizona Project. But until now all water distributed by the Apache Junction Water District has been treated by one of Mesa’s water treatment facilities,’ Al Bravo, public information officer for the city of Apache Junction, said in the release. “This is another step in the district’s plan to move to independence from the Mesa treatment facility with the new plant. Customers should not see any difference in the water coming from your tap as it remains groundwater and CAP water treated under high standards for safety and quality,” he said.
