Casa Grande to trade water for greenhouse electricity
by Kevin Reagan | Casa Grande Dispatch
The city has agreed to exchange its surplus wastewater for cheaper electricity produced by a new greenhouse facility.
Two agreements were authorized by the Casa Grande City Council on Monday with nFlux Energy Products, a company planning to build up to 300 acres of greenhouses near Rodeo and Burris roads.
One agreement obligates the city to annually provide up to 300 acre-feet of effluent from its wastewater treatment plant to nFlux. The second agreement permits the city to purchase electricity from nFlux at a lower price than the competitive market rate.
