City Clerk Designated Master Municipal Clerk

[NEWS RELEASE]  City of Maricopa Clerk Vanessa Bueras has earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk (MMC), which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Inc.

IIMC grants the MMC designation only to those municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements; and who have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state.

Of the 10,300 international members of IIMC, 1,313 have their MMC. 47 Clerks have earned this designation in Arizona.

“Vanessa plays a critical role in the City of Maricopa from ensuring our elections are conducted in accordance with current federal, state, and municipal laws to being responsible for the records of all official proceedings within the City,” said City Manager Gregory Rose. “We are proud of Vanessa’s achievement and thankful for her more than 13 years of service to the City.”

The International Institute of Municipal Clerks, founded in 1947, has 10,300 members throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries, and the mission of this global non-profit corporation is to enhance the education opportunities and professional development of its diverse membership.

Kayser. “Your City can take immense pride in Vanessa’s educational accomplishments and achievement of this milestone.”

Vanessa began her career with the City of Maricopa in March of 2004 becoming the City’s second employee. She held positions of Administrative Assistant and Deputy City Clerk before assuming her present position as City Clerk in August of 2006.

She received the Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) certification in July of 2006 after completing an extensive two year educational program. In May 2008, Ms. Bueras also received the prestigious Certified Public Manager (CPM) certification through Arizona State University. She is also a Certified Municipal Election Official and a Certified State Election Officer.
