City takes wary budget approach

With an estimated FY 16-17 budget just shy of $40 million, the Coolidge City Council reviewed where the City looks good and also where it is looking more bleak.

Lisa Panella, City finance director, took council through a brief presentation of department budget summaries for all funds on Monday, May 9.

Usually council receives an entire worksheet that shows “all of the expenses versus all the revenues,” Panella told council at the discussion-only budget meeting.

“This year we made a very simple summary for you,” Panella said.

Council was provided a spreadsheet showing each fund and whether there was any carry forward in the particular fund, whether there is revenue or transfers in and out of the fund among other details.

For instance, in the General Fund, operations expenses are at $9,727,299, with a projected new revenue of $10,010,679, and a carry forward balance of $3.15 million.
