College president says CAC was key in attracting Lucid

Central Arizona College president Jackie Elliott said a community college mission mission must include an opportunity to train a workforce.

Elliott’s comments came as she was the speaker at the Coolidge Economic Development committee’s annual monthly meeting Tuesday. There she talked about the important role the college played in helping Casa Grande lure Lucid Motors and its $700 million electric car plant that is expected to employ about 2,000 workers to the area.

“That was the whole mission of the community college,” Elliott said. “Over the years we have turned ourselves into little universities and we have lost sight of our mission.”
