Committee working toward incorporation vote in Nov. ’15

After the fall election, a committee interested in incorporating San Tan Valley will look for state legislators interested in sponsoring a bill to help the city get started.
If they’re not successful on this front, they’ll propose a smaller boundary map that will put the town of Florence out of range for scotching the effort as it did four years ago.
The group has a goal of bringing incorporation to a vote in 13 months. But this time it wants to make sure the neighboring cities and towns are supportive before committee members and volunteers put in the field work of gathering signatures.
The committee is called Residents for a New Valley Town (www.newvalleytown.com). In the last several months, the group has reached out and met with the town managers of Florence, Queen Creek, Apache Junction and Mesa, who are all within the six-mile radius of the proposed new city, committee chairman Rhett Homan responded by e-mail to a request for comment.
