Condos part of mixed-use, recycled-container development coming to Maricopa

A Phoenix developer has announced plans to bring mixed-use condos, retail space and live-work designs to the city of Maricopa as soon as this summer.

Slated for a 30-acre plot at the corner of Honeycutt and White and Parker Roads across the street from City Hall, the mixed-use development would capitalize on the shipping container architectural craze, according to details from a press release by Robby Richards, owner of Richards Development, LLC.

The developer’s website reports the complex – entitled Containers in Copa – will be “constructed with recycled shipping containers and sustainable building materials wherever possible” and will use a “‘Buy Local’ philosophy to source building materials manufactured in Arizona.”

Richardsdevelopment.com lists the base price for a 900 square-foot unit at $80,000. The largest live-work unit, featuring a 1,500 square-foot living area with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, as well as 1,500 sq.-ft retail space, costs $250,000. The website says the condos are already available to purchase.

The industrial loft style units will be built in a two story design offering a living space upstairs and commercial retail space on the ground level, according to the press release.
