Coolidge Council opts for wider lanes on Central Avenue

coolidgeThe new Coolidge City Council was given a tough challenge right off the bat, being asked for direction on how to proceed with the reconstruction of Central Avenue.

With the concerns of those unsatisfied with how Coolidge Avenue turned out looming in the air, Public Works Director Susanna Struble highlighted the advantages that Central Avenue has compared to its project predecessor that wrapped up construction this fall.

Most importantly is that Central is wider than Coolidge was before the project, and the sidewalks that line Central are long enough that making them compatible with the Americans with Disabilities Act will not tread into the road space as much as Coolidge Avenue. This will help prevent the problems some people on Coolidge Avenue have had with the narrow driving lanes and shallow parking spots.
